Using high quality digital photos displaying matching paint chips set against existing building elements, the Signs By Benchmark team went to work creating the perfect match to the building’s stucco and brick finishes.

Standing 60″ high x 12″ wide x 21″ deep, the single-sided monument fits right in with a two-color stucco finish and faux brick base. Highly visible, large stud-mounted Gemini letters leave the viewer in no doubt as to whom the building belongs to.

This year, we created a sign accent piece that caused us to enlarge our skills as artisans – a 10′ high replica toothbrush complete with LED illuminated bristles.

Hand sculpted, then polished to a smooth finish, the toothbrush sports high gloss and realistic features. The bristles are lit with alternating colors to call attention to the piece.

Working with Stein Sign Display, also of Watertown, the Signs By Benchmark team created the imposing display to complement the newly constructed facility for which they also created exterior stud mount lettering (as featured in our February 2013 newsletter).

Measuring 30′ high x 21′ 2″ wide x 65 3/8″ deep, the double-sided pylon contains a large electronic message center (EMC). Integrated LED lit channel letters provide high visibility. Faux stone columns to match building elements and a two-color acrylic stucco finish help achieve a modern, sculpted appearance.

Consistent with Signs By Benchmark’s easy integrated sign installation process, the sign was created in three sealed sections.

“The product from Signs By Benchmark was a masterfully engineered design,” said Chris Wilson of Stein Sign Display. “The pylon went together like a perfect puzzle.”

As with all Signs By Benchmark products, the pylon sign was created using a lightweight cellular plastic medium. To provide durability and strength, each component was sealed with Signs By Benchmark’s signature hard coat.

Knowing of the Signs By Benchmark team’s creative bent and keen anticipation of a challenging project, Sign Source didn’t hesitate to make contact.

The project called for six identical double-sided monument signs – each featuring a 103″ wide Dibond panel supported on either side by 78″  replica crayons – one red, one blue.

Working with cellular plastic, the Signs By benchmark team created the twelve massive crayons, then went to work achieving a sleek, smooth surface in preparation for the five color stippled finish.

“The challenge was definitely achieving a smooth finish,” said Matt Frey, Signs By Benchmark General Manager. “We’ve had the chance to hone our skills on several projects now, so our team didn’t hesitate to jump at this one.”

Assembled, then hard coated to provide durability that will protect the end customer’s investment, the signs are lightweight – making installation a breeze.

Individual letters measuring 17″ high x 2″ thick spell “Flooring”, Furniture”, “Design”, “Blinds” and “Accents” – highly visible advertising that will help draw informed shoppers inside.

Created from cellular plastic (EPS expanded polystyrene), the letters were CNC-cut then sealed with Signs By Benchmark’s signature hard coat. Finished to match the building’s stucco, the letters were shipped complete with mounting templates.

Now the end customer may realize sales profits as a result of effective advertising – with the added benefit of a durable, long-lasting signage investment.

The Indigo Signworks team planned a sign base of stacked stone designed to match exterior architecture of the building. However, while stone worked nicely for the base, they knew that the 22′ 7″ pole covers called for a lightweight material.

Knowing that Signs By Benchmark specializes in creating extremely realistic faux finishes, the Indigo team didn’t hesitate to make the call.

“When the project began,” said Mary Krage of Indigo Signworks, “all we had was a small sample stone section that looked much lighter in color than the completed building. So I matched paint colors, took photos of the job site, then sent them to Signs By Benchmark.” 

Working from the materials sent by Krage, the Signs By Benchmark team set to work designing, then creating the two colossal pole covers. 

Large blocks of cellular plastic (EPS expanded polystyrene) were molded in the Signs By Benchmark plant. The blocks were first CNC-cut to specifications, then hand sculpted to achieve the realistic faux finish for which the skilled Signs By Benchmark team is known. 

After receiving a coat of Signs By Benchmark’s signature hard coat for durability, the covers were painted and shaded to match original stone elements. The final product was two 22′ 7″ high x 10′ wide x 32″ deep lightweight, faux stacked stone pole covers ready for easy installation. 

“It was a pleasure working with the team at Signs By Benchmark,” said Krage. “As anyone can see, the pole covers are almost a perfect match to the original stone. That made a nervous sales person and the client very happy!”

Offering their end customer a sign concept that would stand out from the crowd, Pride Neon designed the 13′ 3″ wide x 7′ 1″ high x 39″ deep monument to help portray the customer’s industry and character.

Working from Pride Neon’s design, the Signs By Benchmark team created the single-sided monument using CNC and hand sculpting techniques.

Created from cellular plastic, the sign components, including debossed letters, were assembled then sealed as a solid unit with a coating of Signs By Benchmark’s proven hard coat.

Due to its light weight, the sign was quickly and easily installed by Pride Neon.

“We were impressed by how easy the installation process was and how quickly the installation foam set up, ” said Gale Mudder of Pride Neon. “The customer was very pleased with the sign.”
